Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands that run down the coast of Turkey. In the middle ages, the knights used it as a base and it was one of the longest to hold out against the Ottoman Empire. It is now a tourist site (Sun, Sea and Sand), a museum of the era of the Knights and perhaps the oldest medieval city of Europe
